Too Broke To Laugh

Christmas is under attack, or so a group of folks in Patchogue, NY would lead you to believe since their beloved Christmas boat parade was renamed to the Holiday boat parade, or some shit like that. The mayor, a Roman Catholic and the town’s elected officials decided calling it a ‘Christmas’ parade wasn’t thoughtful of other religious beliefs, so they dropped the Christmas part.

Former Congressman Felix Grucci owns a fireworks company which previously co-sponsored the event by donating thousands of dollars in fireworks, but since the name change has rescinded the offer. It’s his company, Grucci is a Roman Catholic and obviously felt slighted by dropping Christmas, so he took his fireworks and went home. I have no problem if Grucci wants to be a dickface and prevent little kids from seeing fireworks, but I have a major problem with the so-called ‘Christians’ of the town blaming the Jews for the name change.

Fact is Patchogue, NY is primarily composed of non-religious people, possibly even ATHEISTS, roughly 24%, according to a 2007 census, so it’s just as likely any one of these people complained which led to the name change.

67.97% of the people in Patchogue, NY are religious, meaning they affiliate with a religion. 51.73% are Catholic; 6.89% are Protestant; 0.16% are LDS; 1.27% are another Christian faith; 7.05% in Patchogue, NY are Jewish; 0.02% are an eastern faith; 0.86% affilite with Islam.

The fine ‘Christian’ folks in Patchoque, however, view things differently and have let their voices be heard on various forums throughout the web. Here are a couple of excerpts from some obvious scholars, or otherwise educated theologians who I am certain remember Jesus, their Lord and savior, was a Jew.

Christmas was always a big holiday and growing up I never having monorahs, and if you have a tree you need a memorahs. They never cared and now all of a sudden the jews are trying to make this such a big thing. Give me a break. Also, I’m tired of saying Happy Holidays and from now everyone should say Merry Christmas. Channah was never a big deal and now they are trying to make it into one. Enough the jews should be happy after christmas they are in Florida counting all the money made on Christmas b/c half of them own stores.

My main problem isn’t with Grucci, who by the way received a bankroll from a Republican Jewish group during his bid for a Congressional seat, but with all the morons who supported his position by bashing the shit out of everyone who doesn’t feel how they do. If ckck from Jarrettsville, MD, actually read a book, or finished High School he might realize our founding fathers were all secularists and it is the very reason for separation of church and state.

Is it any surprise in Patchogue, NY only less than a quarter of the population completed any higher education? I guess it isn’t any wonder why we should expect comments any less thought provoking than what we received from the fine ‘Christians’ of Patchogue, NY. I ask you Patchoque, are you any different than the radical Islamists who shout hatred when their religion is ‘insulted’ and finally what would Jesus do?
