For any fans of Tom Petty, the new Mudcrutch record is a must. For fans of classic sounding rock this is a must for you as well. Close your eyes and Petty, former Heartbreakers Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench and original bandmember Tom Leadon, and Randall Marsh will lead you on a journey back to the 70’s.

Couple of my favorite tracks on the album are the Bob Dylanesque ‘Lover of the Bayou’ and Mudcrutch’s opus ‘Crystal River’ which clocks in at just under ten minutes. There is plenty to enjoy on this album and being harkened back to the days when music was raw, full of energy and passion is a trip worth taking.

*Music of the 70’s thumbs up, hairy chicks of the 70’s not so much.

I was never a huge fan of the Wallflowers, they were good, but I was into heavier stuff at the time, or more pimpin’ music, so I wouldn’t call myself a Jakob Dylan fan per say. Dylans solo album ‘Seeing Things’ is a great listen and I highly recommend it.

The whole album is completely stripped down thanks to Rick Rubin, no crazy effects or amplified guitars, just good song writing and impressive voice quality from Dylan. Songs like ‘Evil is Alive and Well’, “Something Good This Way Comes” (excellent clip captured on culturebully), the working man song ‘All day and all night’ and the dark, ominous ‘I told you I couldn’t stop’ highlight a few selections on an album full of great ones.

This is an album I listen to when I’m just relaxing, unlike when I listen to Pantera and head on over to the elderly home for some MMA action. Disgusting you say? The elderly need company and I need to practice my ground submission moves. Win-Win for everyone.
