WILMINGTON — A North Carolina teen has been charged with obstruction of justice after authorities said he spent hours driving around with an acquaintance after the man had died.
The Star-News of Wilmington reported Tuesday that 19-year-old Eric Len Henry Jr., of Winnabow, delayed for hours notifying authorities of 23-year-old John Ferguson’s death.
Beth Boling with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office says authorities think Ferguson died of a drug overdose, but they are waiting for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

In all fairness to Eric Len Henry, he probably didn’t know his friend was dead. Just this past weekend I was hanging out with friends when my buddy Bigfoot passed out in his chair. This isn’t unusual behavior for Bigfoot given his propensity for whiskey, so chances are I wouldn’t have realized he was dead unless he was still on my back porch come Monday morning.
It’s quite possible Eric was trying to resurrect (pun intended) the Weekend at Bernie’s series, because we all know there is nothing funnier than partying with a dead guy.
