The longer I stand in the corner of reason the more I wonder how anyone can stand in religion’s corner. There are arguments, studies which draw a correlation between level of education and religious affiliation.
The conclusion I draw from statistics which link religious affiliation to level of education (i.e. higher educated likely to be Atheist, or Agnostic) is simply the more informed you are, the harder it is to ignore the propensity of religion to be unbelievable.
I don’t pretend to be a theologian, or a scientist with degrees to show my superior intellect in those subjects and there are countless intelligent people who are religious, but I am unable to suspend reason for any purpose and this includes religion. Is it more probably a young, frightened Jewish girl (the Virgin Mary) lied about how she became pregnant, or Jesus was actually born of an immaculate birth?
Reason isn’t applied to religion and this is why religion and the people who follow it are scary and we logical people need to be on guard against their unreasonable decisions, actions, or thoughts.
Listen to Christopher Hitchens and open your mind to reason.
