Jesus Christ, Lord and Savior, son of God and messiah to millions has a few extra minutes to work out the automotive industry fiasco, or so think the congregation at Detroit’s Greater Grace Temple.
With sport-utility vehicles at the altar and auto workers in the pews, one of Detroit’s largest churches on Sunday offered up prayers for Congress to bail out the struggling auto industry.

Millions around the world suffer inhumane conditions from war, famine, poverty, disease, but Jesus will put all that work on hold in order to save the asses of three greedy American corporations who squandered millions of dollars and contributed to the raping of the planet’s resources by producing suburban tank vehicles (SUV’s) which had no business being manufactured.
Jesus is listening intently to the prayers of those caught up in the automotive fiasco and with some of his divine intervention the livelihood of millions will be spared from disaster should Congress choose not to bail out Ford, Chrysler and GM. Jesus cares about the SUV and the people who build them. Jesus doesn’t have favorites for his flock are his children and when his children are in the trouble he listens regardless of the severity of their plight.
Jesus extends a heartfelt apology to the genocide victims in Darfur, AIDS victims of Africa and the countless millions around the world who are starving to death because he needs to provide some relief in Detroit where the automotive giants are gasping their last breath.
Rev. Charles Ellis summoned up hundreds of auto workers and retirees in the congregation to come forward toward the vehicles on the altar to be anointed with oil.
It’s all about hope. You can’t dictate how people will think, how they will respond, how they will vote….But you can look to God. We believe he can change the minds and hearts of men and women in power, and that’s what we tried to do today.
Rev. Charles Ellis

Hearing a story like what is happening in Detroit’s religious community is inspiring to me because if Jesus can take a few moments from his otherwise busy schedule and bless the automotive giants with bailout money, then there is hope Jesus can provide me with one of my wishes.
